Graphic Packaging Workers Join Teamsters

Over 200 Print Production Workers Gain Strong Union Representation with Local 673

Workers at Graphic Packaging International have voted to leave the sham Printing Packaging & Production Workers Union (PPPWU) in order to secure a strong voice on the job by unionizing with Teamsters Local 673.

“Being in a union is all about solidarity, commitment, and communication. The PPPWU failed to give us any of that,” said Robert Gadson, a 30-year press first operator and proud new member of Local 673. “But now that we’re Teamsters, we will have a real and fair balance of power with management.”

The 209 workers produce packaging like cartons, flyers, and cups for a wide range of businesses. They joined Local 710 so they can fight for a great Teamsters contract that guarantees they’re given a real voice on the job, higher wages, and better benefits and work rules.

They are just the latest of a growing group of workers in the print graphics industry all across the country who have locked in strong union representation with the Teamsters.

If you are a PPPWU member who wants to join a union that listens to you and fights for you, reach out to a Teamsters organizer today by calling (202) 624-8718.
